Character Creation Screen Bugs - Can't Create New Character and Menu lock

Hi!

I was returning to playing deadnauts recently and I was trying to create a new character in the character creation screen but nothing happens when I click the button "Create New Character". Also, after clicking that button, I am unable to return to the main menu. I am able to browse and view the previous characters I have created but both the Create New Character and Return to Main Menu Buttons don't work after I click the Create New Character Button. Is this a recent bug?

I have already tried verifying my local game files through steam. Is there a work around for this?
